OPERATION SNOWFLAKE

Operation Snowflake is an urban event open for participants of all ages and physical conditions, on the Töölönlahti ice.

Other spaces organised the Operation Snowflake event on the Töölönlahti ice during winters 2012 – 2013. The date was fixed to the Sunday before Mardi Gras. During the event, artists from the Other Spaces collective performed visual social choreographies invented by the group. The audience viewed the choreographies from the gardens of the Linnunlaulu villas in this free of charge event.

Operation Snowflake was organised in years 2012 – 2013. The intention has been to organise it every year on the Sunday before Mardi Gras, but in years 2014-19 it has proven impossible or too dangerous because of the weak ice. Thus the performance has become a kind of indicator of the progress of climate change, emphasizing how the changing climate can affect our daily lives in very concrete ways.

UPCOMING

Operation Snowflake will be performed every  Sunday before Mardi Gras (laskiaissunnuntai), if ice conditions permit.
